Is Prof Wole Soyinka on his way back home?

Prof Wole Soyinka and Prince Success on the plane presumably on their way home Professor Wole Soyinka may be on his way to Nigeria if recent reports on the social media are anything to go by. The Nobel laureate may be trying to live up to his words to cut his Green Card and leave America if Donald Trump won. The Nobel Laureate had vowed to tear his green passport if Donald Trump emerges as the president of the United States of America and the candidate of the Republican Party rightly did win. Nigerians have asked the revered scholar to do as he has said and return to the country to show that he is a man of integrity, and a Facebook user simply identified as Prince Adeyinka Success has pictured himself and the professor making their ways back to Nigeria. He captured the picture: “Fellow Nigerians, I and Prof are on our way back to Nigeria” with a picture to prove same.

When church leaders step out of line

Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church a.k.a. Winners Chapel In writing this article I’ve been advised to tread carefully so I do not tread on the toes of certain powerful ‘Men 0f God’. Naturally I would be scared of a true ‘Man of God’ but not a charlatan. Disregarding whatever potential threat there are I will present the truth as I see fit. It is the readers right to discern between right and wrong. In recent times a lot of so called ‘Men of God’ have been side-tracking their primary duties in favour of chasing after things of a material nature. A ‘Man of God’ is supposed to be a representative, and servant, of God in this world. Such a person would have given up everything to devote his or her entire life to the worship of God. There can be no room for things of a material nature – money, business, etc – to distract them from praying, meditating and teaching the word of God. It is one of the reasons that the Catholic Church insists its priest remain unmarried and with no

Personal financial lessons

Peter Obi Not everyone can govern a state, let alone have the courage to go against the existing norms to show frugality and resourcefulness in managing the affairs of a state, putting key projects and systems in place as well as leaving quiet a handful resources for one’s successor. With the realities of recession starring in our faces, I believe there are key personal financial lessons we can abstract both directly and indirectly from former Anambra governor Peter Obi’s speech at the Platform, a program organized by Covenant Christian Centre. He did show an ingenious understanding of money and it’s nature. Here are few of such lessons; you can always add yours; ◾It is foolish to allow your expected expenditure exceeds your expected revenue, except capital expenditure far exceeds recurrent expenditure for the period concern. ◾Borrowing can sometimes be cool, what you are borrowing for is what counts. ◾Spend for growth; in other words, have systems in place that increases your n

Victorious Donald Trump savouring victory in the US Presidential Election Mr Ude Ikeotuonye, an Abuja-based Architect says he is optimistic the U. S., system of government will keep the President-elect, Donald Trump in check. Ikeotuonye said in Abuja on Thursday that he had mixed feelings about the antics that Trump would bring to the oval office. According to him, however, there are mixed feelings for me about the antics that Trump may want to bring to office, but I am comforted by the fact that the American system is strong enough to keep him in check. Against all odds and expectations, Trump emerged as the 45th President-elect of the U.S. “In a few months, he will occupy the most coveted seat in the world, the office of the President of the most powerful nation in the world. “His victory is predicated on two things, first is the fact that he is not part of the establishment that core politicians represent. “An establishment that people all over the world are tired of; they
