Nigeria at 56: Restructuring or reconciliation?

‘Those who governed well did not arm, those who were armed well did not set up battle lines, those who set up battle lines well did not fight, those who fought well did not lose, and those who lost well did not perish’ – Zhuge Liang, 3d century. Today, Nigeria is in poor health and the severity of its condition is instantly recognisable. Over the last 56 years, Nigeria has repeatedly shown shaky signs of outfitted vulnerability and governance paralysis particularly on the myopic choice of national leadership and the evident lack of strategic thinking in repositioning the country for national prosperity and progress. The interminable symptoms regrettably have ranged from the failure of successive governments to foresee and respond to the core issues of federalism and its relationship with cooperative and competitive resource endowments and factual autonomy. Nigeria’s episodic democracy has become disorderly and persistently entrenched in existential falsehood and currently at a monum

The message came from the Psalms in the scripture after I was worried about so many things going on in the country then. “I fasted and prayed and I received a message for him, and I made effort to s

Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe Jamiu Yisa Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Adeseye Ogunlewe, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being responsible for the country’s economic woes, adding that he needs to do more than he has been doing to remedy the situation. Speaking in an interview, Ogunlewe said that For over 10 years out of the 16 years the PDP held federal power, there was no inflation but a year after relinquishing it to APC Nigerians are groaning over economic recession. He, however, expressed optimism that gradually, he could still turn things around positively. “Slightly, I still believe he can rescue the situation but he has to do a lot more than what he has been doing before. It was his fault, government to me is a continuum and waiting for another one year or six months, seven months, eight months before he appointed his ministers was not the best way because during that period Nigeria did not work at all, everything was at a standstill. “Most of
