U.S. president-elect Donald Trump arrived at the South Lawn of the White House for talks with U.S. President Barack Obama on the transition of power, a White House official said on Thursday.

The men are holding a closed meeting in the Oval Office.

Trump is also to meet later with Republican congressional leaders, while vice president-elect Mike Pence meets with Vice President Joe Biden.

Obama vowed on Wednesday to have a smooth transition between their presidencies, in spite of their “significant differences.’’

Trump will be sworn in on Jan. 20 to take the reins of government from Obama, who is completing his constitutionally limited second four-year term.
