APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called for a thorough investigation into the murder of a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Gideon Aremu (Oorelope-LP). Leye Oyebade, Oyo State Commissioner of Police Mr Gideon Aremu, Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Information and Security, has been shot to death by gunmen at his residence. Aremu (Orelope-Labour Party) was killed on Friday at about 9p.m. while driving into his house at Alakia area of Ibadan It was gathered that the wife of the deceased was opening the gate for him when two men riding motorcycles shot at Aremu several times. “The armed men waited several minutes afterwards to ensure he was dead and took away just his cell phone’’ the source said. Bodies of dead oil workers recovered in Bayelsa

Commandant-General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana The search and rescue team raised following attack by gunmen suspected to be militants at oilfield in Bayelsa has recovered remains of two of the three oil workers that died in the incident. The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Bayelsa Command, Mr Desmond Agu, confirmed the development in Yenagoa on Saturday. The victims were two engineers and a diver. They were ambushed and killed in the creeks while repairing Agip pipelines that were destroyed by Niger Delta Avengers. 20 people killed inside café by Islamic militants

Relatives of some of those inside the cafe are gathering for updates Twenty people, most said to be foreigners, were killed during an attack by suspected Islamist militants on a cafe in Bangladesh, the army says. Gunmen stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery cafe in Dhaka late on Friday before troops entered almost 12 hours later. Six of the attackers were also killed and one was arrested, a government spokesman said. The attack was claimed by the so-called Islamic State (IS). Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi confirmed Italians were killed. He offered condolences to the victims’ families and, referring to the attackers, said: “Our values are stronger than hatred and terror.” Italian news agency Ansa said up to 10 Italians may be unaccounted for. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission in Abuja on Friday. Those retired were; Bala A Hassan, Yahaya Garba Ardo, Irmiya Yarima, Danladi Mshebwala, Tambari Mohammed, Bala Nasarawa, Musa Abdulsalam, Adisa Bolanta, Mohammed Gana, Umaru Manko and Lawal Tanko. The others were Olufemi Adenike, Johson Ogunsakin, Adenrele Shinaba, James Caulcrick, Olufefemi Ogumbayod, Edgar Nanakumo, Kalafite Adeyemi, Patrick Dokumor, Joseph Mbu and Sabo Ringim.
