Acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu A business woman, Mrs. Moji Yakubu has petitioned the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Maku over an alleged miscarriage of justice by its officials. In the petition date July 19, 2016, Yakubu through her lawyer, Mr. Yemi Adeshina alleged that some officials of the commission carrying out the orders of some unknown persons framed up a charge of stealing of a 10 hectare land located at Sangotedo against his client. Adeshina noted that his client rightfully purchased the 10 hectares of land from its owners, Onibeju Royal Family for N100 million and that a deed of assignment was duly executed by both parties. According to him, some members of the Onibeju Royal Family had initially petitioned the EFCC over an alleged fraudulent activity of one Miss Folashade Ogundare whom the family had withdrawn the power of attorney over the piece of land from. FADAMA’s irrigation project FADAMA has concluded plan to send 855 Lagos youths to South Africa for training to acquire skills in agro-business. The body is partnering with the National Image Company, the organiser of the on-going Agro-Business youth training and empowerment programme in which over 5700 youths had so far been trained in Lagos State. According to the Lagos State Project Coordinator for FADAMA, Mr. Ajijola Folusho, 15 trained youths who are interested in farming would be selected from each of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs of Lagos for further training in South Africa and be empowered upon return to Nigeria. Folusho said in a statement that the screening process began last Monday and would be concluded on Friday at the Lagos State FADAMA Coordination Office, Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority Complex, Agege, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. Mike Okiro, Chairman, Police Service Commission The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 22 Commissioners of Police (CP), to the next rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police( AIG). The Commission also endorsed the promotion of 29 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioners of Police. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission in Abuja on Wednesday. Ani said that the affected 29 commissioners were screened by a panel headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Mike Okiro, and other members of the Commission. He said the promotions were based on the recommendation of availability of vacancies in the AIG and CP cadres of the Force occasioned by the recent Force reorganisation. Yahaya-Bello of Kogi State Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has approved the appointment of an interim management board of Kogi Savings and Loans Limited. He charged the new board to compliment government efforts at developing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to empower people at the grassroots. According to a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, the governor said his administration is poised to reposition the bank and make it a catalyst for middle-level economic empowerment, urging management to ensure the bank operates with a view to speed up economic development. He said his administration will continue to remain committed to repositioning the bank to carry out its mandate to the Kogi people. Steve Ayorinde, Commissioner for Information in Lagos State The Lagos State government has described Alhaji Asari Dokubo, leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, as a comedian who should not be taken seriously for faulting reports on discovery of oil in the state. Dokubo had in a statement posted on his facebook faulted reports on the discovery of oil in Lagos State, saying the reported oil wells were situated in the Niger Delta territory. Reacting to Dokubo’s claim, Steve Ayorinde, Commissioner for Information, Lagos State said: “We appreciate Asari Dokubo’s sense of humour. But oil and gas is no subject of comedy. The oil discovery in Lagos is a reality that won’t lend itself to jokes. Ayorinde added: “Lagos works with or without oil.
