Ashimolowo not involved In Ponzi scheme – KICC

Matthew Ashimolowo The Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), a London- based organization, of the main church pastored by Matthew Ashimolowo, has refuted the allegation that he was involved Ponzi Scheme. KICC, in a statement issued by Dipo Oluyomi, Chief Executive Officer and James Mcglashan, Chief Operating Offficer, said: “We wish to state that the headline was unfortunate and misleading and has caused damage to the reputation of Pastor Ashimolowo. The sensational headline suggests that Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo lost $5 million when in fact he did not and did not make the decision to invest. “Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo is the Senior Pastor of KICC and not her trustee and has never been a trustee of KICC. As you are aware from the Charities Commission’s report, the decision to invest was solely that of the U.K trustees without any involvement of Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo. Importantly as the report states, it is the trustees who have the responsibility for investing Charit

Kane, Alli score brace as Tottenham thrash Watford 4-1

Dele Alli and Harry Kane Harry Kane and Dele Alli scored two goals apiece as Tottenham thrashed lacklustre Watford to move into the Premier League’s top four for the first time since October. Spurs dominated from the off at Vicarage Road – having 13 shots in the first half alone – and seconds after Alli struck the bar, Kane coolly finished a well-weighted Kieran Trippier pass. The same duo combined for the second, Kane stealing between two static defenders to prod home Trippier’s fine cross from six yards. It was the England striker’s 59th goal in his first 100 Premier League appearances, matching Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Alli made it 3-0 by passing low into the net after Younes Kaboul skewed the ball into his path, then arrived unmarked to finish Kane’s cross for his fifth goal in three matches. Watford, who did not have a shot on target until Kaboul bundled home a late consolation, drop to 13th having won just once in seven matches. Spurs’ fourth successive win briefly t

An Alex Iwobi header gave Arsenal a scrappy second before Palace briefly rallied to force saves from home goalkeeper Petr Cech. The win moves the Gunners back to within nine points of leaders Chelsea, while Palace stay 17th, two points above the relegation zone. The visitors have won only once in 12 league games, with manager Sam Allardyce awaiting his first victory since taking over from Alan Pardew. Ibori and a nation united by corruption

Chido Onumah One of the highlights of the year that has just ended was the release from a British jail of one of Nigeria’s most notorious politically exposed persons (PEPs), James Onanefe Ibori. Ibori’s rap sheet is as long as the 338km East-West Road in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, but the reason for his latest freedom was the conviction and sentencing—13 years in prison—by a Southwark Crown Court in April 2012 after he pleaded guilty to a 10-count charge of money laundering, corruption and conspiracy to defraud. Of course, it wasn’t Ibori’s release that dominated the news, as newsy as his expected release was. Rather, it was his triumphant return to the warm embrace of his kinsmen, supporters and well-wishers. James Onanefe Ibori or James Onanefe Ochuko Ibori, depending on if you are appearing before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, is an enigma. He was governor of Delta State from 1999-2007. He and his bosom friend, Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s current senate president, bankrolled the
