Police arrest 4 for raping 11-year old

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects who raped an 11-year old secondary school student last Saturday around NNPC, Apata, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu who did not disclosed the names of the suspects, said that investigation was ongoing in the matter.

He said the suspects would be charged to court if found guilty.

Ajisebutu also confirmed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for thorough investigation.

“The case was reported by the mother of the victim. Because of the seriousness of the crime, the state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, had directed that the case should be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the command for thorough investigation.”

A source disclosed that the victim was raped by the men while hawking detergent.

Investigations revealed that the 11-year old usually hawk soap with her brother but on the fateful day she was raped, she was alone in the area after her brother had gone to collect some money from a customer on the other street.

The source who witnessed the incident disclosed that two men on commercial motorcycle approached the victim to buy detergent.

After selling the detergent, one of them offered her N500 and when the girl told them that she did not have change, she was told to come with them to a location to collect her money. The victim refused to follow them but she was dragged to an uncompleted building where two other men were waiting. All of them took turns to rape her.

Another witness narrated: “The incident happened on Saturday afternoon but the girl had no one to help her. After she escaped from the rapists, she told us that after being taken to the house, one of the two boys waiting there covered her mouth while the others forcefully opened her legs.

”She said the two men who brought her to the building raped her first before the two others took their turn. But because she lives with her mother in this area, she was able to identify her attackers which led to their arrest”.

The Houthis’ Justification In their statement, the Houthis framed the attack as retaliation for Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which they characterized as indiscriminate bombings resultin...

This article delves into why Assad’s downfall would strike at the core of Russian prestige and what it could mean for the broader geopolitical landscape. Russia's Strategic Commitment to Syria Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Russia has been a staunch supporter of Assad's regime. In 2015, Moscow launched a military intervention that proved decisive in stabilizing Assad’s hold on power. This intervention solidified Russia's role as a key power broker in the Middle East and demonstrated its willingness to project military power far beyond its borders. Syria is not just an ally for Russia; it is a...
