Man nabbed on his first attempt at transporting drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted a textile merchant with 4.4kgs of methamphetamine worth $1.4million at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on his way to Cambodia.

It is the first seizure of the year at the airport and the first consignment going to Cambodia. The 40 parcels of drugs, concealed inside foodstuff, were detected during the outward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian Airline flight.

The 47 years old suspect, Ifeka Charles Obi, from Oba Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, said he had been promised N1m payment by his “sponsors”. According to him, as textile dealer, he lost everything due to family problems and that it is first attempt at smuggling drugs.

Court grants Fani-Kayode N50m bail

Fani-kayode sandwiched by EFCC officials Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday granted a N50m bail to former spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
