Badagry records first rain in 2017

The coastal town of Badagry, Lagos State, on Tuesday witnessed its first rain of the year.

The rain which began around 5.15 a.m and ended at 10.25 a.m, did not cause any havoc in the area.

Some Badagry residents expressed delight at the downpour, noting that it was a sign of blessing.

Mrs Senami Balogun, a resident, expressed optimism that the early rain was a sign that things would be better in 2017.

“It isn’t the rainy season yet, but we still witnessed it; this goes to show that this year would be a wonderful year for everyone.

“Apart from the blessing, it would bring about cool weather because the heat would be reduced,” she said.

Another resident, Mr Mayowa Akeem, said he was delighted with the downpour.

“Lately, the weather has been really hot but with this downpour, it’s a bit better

“I believe the rain is a blessing sent down from heaven,” he said.
