Adeboye remains G.O. of Redeemed worldwide-RCCG

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, says Pastor Enoch Adeboye remains the General Overseer of the church worldwide and that he has not retired.

The church said Pastor Joseph Obayemi is just the Overseer of the church in Nigeria and did not mean that Adeboye has retired as he is still the spiritual head of the church worldwide.

A memo from the church, signed by Pastor J.F. Odesola said the changes in RCCG was sequel to some legal provisos guiding the operations of registered religious organisations and Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria.

According to the memo, “Kindly be informed that this new structure is particular to Nigeria alone, as Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Daddy G.O. remains the Spiritual leader and global missioner of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.”

Also, a statement signed by Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and Personal Assistant said Adeboye remained the General Overseer of the church worldwide.

The statement said the clarification is coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp on Saturday that the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi.

The statement clarified that the latest development is sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.

The regulation stipulates that heads of non-profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations and that while in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.

The statement reiterated that Pastor Funsho Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church Treasurer.‎

The statement advised all members of RCCG to understand this new structure and go about their service to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning.

It also appealed to members to educate people around them and not spread inaccurate information, stressing that Pastor Adeboye remained the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

Fall of Assad is a Blow to Russia's Prestige

The potential fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a long-standing ally of Russia, would mark a turning point in Moscow’s global influence, particularly in the Middle East. Steve Rosenberg’s analysis underscores the profound implications for Russia, which has invested heavily—both militarily and politically—in ensuring Assad’s survival over the past decade. This article delves into why Assad’s downfall would strike at the core of Russian prestige and what it could mean for the broader geopolitical landscape. Russia's Strategic Commitment to Syria Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Russia has been a staunch supporter of Assad's regime. In 2015, Moscow launched a military intervention that proved decisive in stabilizing Assad’s hold on power. This intervention solidified Russia's role as a key power broker in the Middle East and demonstrated its willingness to project military power far beyond its borders. Syria is not just an ally for Russia; it is a...
