Man kills friend over lady friend struggle

The Enugu State Police Command has commenced the trial of a suspect who allegedly killed his friend over a lady friend.

Enugu Police Command Spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, via a statement issued on Tuesday in Enugu, said the incident occurred on Sunday.

“The alleged incident occurred on Sunday at about 7 a.m. at Amaeke village of Egede Community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

“On that day, the deceased, Friday Owusa, 43, was hit with pestle on the head by one Nwaotobo Ozoha from same village.

“The fight allegedly broke out between them over what is suspected as struggle for a woman friend identified as Ijeoma.

“The victim after the hitting became unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital by relatives and sympathizers, before he was transferred to Parklane Hospital, Enugu, where a doctor confirmed him dead,’’ he said.

Amaraizu said that the body of the deceased was deposited at the Mortuary of Parklane Hospital, “just as a manhunt for the fleeing suspect is intensified.’’

Pope Francis Pope Francis has turned down a request to play a role in the peace deal between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebel group.
