Group urges Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad

Muslims

As Muslim across the world commemorate Eid-el-Maulud on Monday, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has urged followers of Islam to emulate the exemplary leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The group gave the advice in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim.

Today is Eid-el-Maulud is set-aside to mark the Birthday Anniversary of the prophet.

The group observed that Prophet Muhammad taught and demonstrated how best to live in the world to attain salvation here and in the hereafter.

“On this occasion therefore, The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria salutes the exemplary leadership qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who taught and demonstrated practically how best to live in this world to attain salvation here and hereafter.

“Some of his teachings were humility, self-less service, welfare of the people, trust-worthiness, sacrifice, perseverance, religious tolerance, peace and stability for all irrespective of religious leanings.
“It is therefore necessary to relate his lifetimes with what we do in Nigeria today,”
the statement said.

The group further urged Muslims in leadership positions to use the opportunity to serve Allah to earn rewards.

According to the statement, if they fail to do so, they will be punished here and hereafter.

“It is ironical that most leaders cheating the people by amassing wealth illegally in their various positions still pretend to serve the masses and engage in mere rhetoric on the issues of welfare of the people.

“They should know that they can deceive the people, but they cannot deceive God.

“The most honourable way for them is to reflect and change for the better,” it said.
