President Buhari departs for Abuja from Benin

President Muhammad Buhari on Tuesday afternoon departed for Abuja from Benin Airport after his two-day official visit to Edo.

The President’s aircraft, a Nigerian Air Force plane, with the registration number 5N-FGT, was airborne at 1.45 p.m.

The President had arrived at the airport from Iyamoh, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo, in a Nigeria Air Force helicopter, in the company of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo at 1.30 p.m.

President Buhari was in the company of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who both arrived from Iyamoh in the same helicopter.

At the airport, the President was received by a guard of honour mounted by officers of both the Nigerian Air force and the Army.

There was heavy security presence provided by the Army, Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), within and outside the precinct of the Benin airport before the President’s arrival.

The President, while in Iyamoh, inaugurated the new Edo State University.

The President arrived Benin City, Edo on Monday to commission some projects executed by the outgoing Adams Oshiomhole-led government.

Other projects inaugurated by President Buhari included the new 200-bed space Central Hospital, Siloko and the East-End Circular road project as well as the Queen Ede Erosion control project.

The President also, during the visit, paid a courtesy visit to the new Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II.

Fire: UniJos Senate convenes emergency meeting on Monday

Fire at the University of Jos Library University of Jos is to convene an emergency senate meeting on Monday to review the level of damage done to the institution by the Saturday night inferno.
