The Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced night patrols of highways in the state.
Mr Andrew Bala, the Public Education Officer of the command, said on Wednesday in Jos that the patrols were in compliance with the directives of the Corps High Command.
Bala said the patrols were being conducted in collaboration with sister security agencies to further reduce reckless driving by motorists who plied the highways at night, and to provide prompt response to accident victims.
”Few weeks ago we received directives from our headquarters to begin night patrols, the Jos Sector Command and some of our Unit Commands immediately swung into action in that regard.
”The rationale behind the night patrols is to curb recklessness on our highways and to provide timely assistance to accident victims at night,” he said.
He urged motorists to cooperate with the command in its efforts at making the highways safer at night.
