Presenting the vehicles at the headquarters of Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Chief Executive Officer of Innoson, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, said the vehicles were specially designed for the North-East terrain.
According to him, the vehicles have re-enforced shock absorbers and metallic body and except the engine, other components were locally sourced.
Chukwuma said that the vehicles were to assist troops fighting the Boko Haram terrorists.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, who received the vehicles, thanked the firm for the donation, and said that the gesture was the type needed by the army to tackle the insurgents.
He said that the vehicles would make the troops operate “efficiently and depend less on foreign items,’’ adding that the need to patronage Made-in-Nigeria products in view of dwindling resources was imperative.
