Enugu festival: Fr. Mbaka promises rewards for winners

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has promised to reward the winners of events at the ongoing Enugu State Sports Festival.

Speaking at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium where the Enugu East senatorial zone is holding its elimination series, the vocal priest said the reward would go to the winners of all the events.

“I love sports and I will always support the youth to keep themselves busy with sports events to avoid being lured into illegal businesses.

“I will sponsor those that will excel at this festival in line with the state’s plan for them,” Mbaka said.

Mbaka awarded N100,000 to Awgu Local Government Area for placing first in the march-past.

He also gave Udi local government N30,000 for placing second and Nkanu West got N20,000 for emerging third.

He thanked the organizers for the initiative of catching the athletes’ young and keeping the youth busy.

In matches played so far in the zone, the Enugu South U-15 boys thrashed their Nkanu East counterparts 6-2 while Enugu North defeated Nkanu East 4-1 in the U-20 men’s category.

Enugu South defeated Nkanu West 1-0 in the second U-20 men’s match.
