Buhari gave the commendation when he inaugurated the Upper Siluko Road in Benin on Monday.

The president who also commended the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Clem Agba for a job well done, said he was impressed with the design and the construction of drainage on the road.

Buhari said” I am impressed with the design, the drainage and the construction of walkways on the road. The road will stand the test of time.

“Oshiomhole could have built a new Government House but he choose to construct roads for his people”, he said.

According to him, Oshiomhole has exhibited a great commitment and good intention towards the people.

On his part, Gov. Adam Oshiomhole thanked the people for their understanding during and after the construction of the road.

Oshiomhole said “I want to thank the people foe their understanding because we have had to relocate graves, shops markets among others, to expand the road.

“This road leads to where the real forgotten people live. They are the ones that vote during elections,” he said.

The governor noted that the road has opened up two local government areas in the state.

Oshiomhole also thanked the royal fathers in the area for their support and understanding during the construction of the road.

Mr Clem Agba, the State Commissioner for Environment and Public Utility, said Upper Siluko Road was a component of Uwelu East and Uwelu West catchment areas.

Agba said the Uwelu east and west account for about 30 per cent of the current flooding problem of Benin city.

According to the commissioner, the road involves the construction of a major canal of 7.542 kilometers and other tributary canals of 7.76 kilometers.
