Police on Thursday arraigned three persons at an Ire-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, Ekiti state, for allegedly stealing a goat.
The accused are Bamidele Ayobami, 28; Popoola Kehinde, 25 and Olaosebikan Tunde, 43.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Tunde Awosola told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov.12 at about midnight at Ire-Ekiti.
He alleged that the accused, on the said date and time, unlawfully stole a goat valued at N15,000 which belonged to one Jimoh Ramotu.
The prosecutor, who described the accused as “perpetual goat thieves”, alleged that they had severally been arrested and arraigned an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ court for the same offence.
He told the court that the accused plied their notorious stealing trade between Ado-Ekiti ande Ire-Ekiti.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 (a) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and their counsel, Mr. Femi Falade, prayed the court to grant bail them in liberal terms.
The court granted each of them bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties each in like sum.
The Magistrate adjourned the case to Dec.7 for further hearing.
