Women should be politically active- Obiano’s aide

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State

The Special Adviser to Gov. Willie Obiano on Political Matters, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe, has charged women in Anambra to be politically active to have a voice in the state.

Obidigwe made the call on Thursday in Awka.

He said that a great legacy would be laid if women in the state played active roles in politics.

According to him, women in Anambra have every reason to be active in political affairs of the state.

Obidigwe said that the wife of the governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, had demonstrated genuine effort in carrying the women along politically.

He said that over 20 women in the state had been given political appointments to oversee day to day running of government ministries, departments and agencies.

Obidigwe said that the governor’s wife had ensured that women were carried along in the affairs of the state, calling on women to join politics to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

“Her role in championing the interests of less-privileged persons in the state is unequaled and worthy of emulation.

Obidigwe also called on women in the state to mobilise support for Obiano in his bid to get a second term in office in next year’s gubernatorial election in the state.

The Houthis’ Justification In their statement, the Houthis framed the attack as retaliation for Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which they characterized as indiscriminate bombings resultin...

Fall of Assad is a Blow to Russia's Prestige

The potential fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a long-standing ally of Russia, would mark a turning point in Moscow’s global influence, particularly in the Middle East. Russia's Strategic Commitment to Syria Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Russia has been a staunch supporter of Assad's regime. In 2015, Moscow launched a military intervention that proved decisive in stabilizing Assad’s hold on power. This intervention solidified Russia's role as a key power broker in the Middle East and demonstrated its willingness to project military power far beyond its borders. Syria is not just an ally for Russia; it is a...
