A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Generation For Peace (GFP), said on Monday that it trained 60 women in Kaduna State on peace building and conflict resolution.

The lead trainer, Miss Ruth Bala, said the women were also trained to partake in decision making processes in their communities.

She said that programme targeted Christian and Muslim women living in areas experiencing crisis, to encourage dialogue and promote peaceful coexistence in their communities.

Bala said that 12 communities from the state were selected for the training with five Christian and Muslim women selected from each of the communities.

“ NGO had trained 30 women and in this second section of the programme another 30 were selected from different communities.

“The women were selected from Rigasa, Sabo, Malali, Down quarters, Tudun Wada, Gonin Gora, Kurmin Mashi, Unguwan Muazu, Kabala and Narayi communities in Kaduna.

“The empowerment programme for peace will last for the period of eight months and it will be held twice monthly,’’ she said.

The NGO, Generation For Peace, is a leading global non-profit peace building organization, founded by Mr Faisal Al-Hussein in 2007.

It empowers volunteer leaders of youths to promote active tolerance and responsible citizenship in communities experiencing different forms of conflicts and violence.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Congressman Marino was poorly informed about the issues he commented on, wondering why he did not take the pains to get first hand information from the US Embassy in Nigeria or any other credible source before engaging in what is nothing but a ‘propaganda of his own imagination’. The Minister said by asking the US to refrain from selling warplanes and other military equipment to Nigeria based on a faulty premise, the Congressman has demonstrated a poor understanding of global security issues. ”Insecurity anywhere i
