Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State

Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State

Residents of Takur Adau community in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa have appealed to the State University Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to construct a primary school in the area.

Making the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse, they said their children had to trek long distance to attend schools in other communities

One of the residents, Hajiya Maryam Umar, said that there was “no single public primary school” in the area, adding that children from the community had to trek a long distance to attend classes in a town called Kazama.

She explained that the establishment of a primary school in their community would increase pupils’ enrollment and enhance the level of literacy among children in the locality.

Another resident, Abubakar Sani, said that providing a primary school in the area would enable their children to acquire necessary knowledge and skills that would guide their lives.

“We are demanding for primary school in the area to improve the socio-economic wellbeing, security and education of our children.

“We believe that Gov. Badaru will do it for us since he categorically said that education is number one priority of his administration.

“So, we want the governor to prove his words by establishing a primary school in Takur Adua,” he said.

Also complaining, another resident, Ahmad Muhammad said although there were private schools in the community, such schools were not affordable to majority of parents who are poor.

“So, providing public school will definitely increase the number of children that will attend schools in the area,” he said.

The potential fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a long-standing ally of Russia, would mark a turning point in Moscow’s global influence, particularly in the Middle East. Steve Rosenberg’s analysis underscores the profound implications for Russia, which has invested heavily—both militarily and politically—in ensuring Assad’s survival over the past decade. This article delves into why Assad’s downfall would strike at the core of Russian prestige and what it could mean for the broader geopolitical landscape. Russia's Strategic Commitment to Syria Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Russia has been a staunch supporter of Assad's regime. In 2015, Moscow launched a military intervention that proved decisive in stabilizing Assad’s hold on power. This intervention solidified Russia's role as a key power broker in the Middle East and demonstrated its willingness to project military power far beyond its borders. Syria is not just an ally for Russia; it is a...
