Farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Afana District of Bajju Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State have resolved to co-exist peacefully irrespective of their differences.

This followed a meeting convened on Friday by the District Head of Adana, Mr. Kure Malam, aimed at cementing the peaceful atmosphere between the two communities.

Bishop Simon Mutum, spokesperson for the host community, and Alhaji Maigamu Afana, who spoke on behalf of the herdsmen, vowed to uphold the agreement in the interest of peace and development of the area.

They, however, cautioned each other against any breach of the agreement, warning that it could lead to sanctions on the defaulting party.

In an interview with NAN shortly after the meeting, the District Head said the decision to convene the meeting was to consolidate on the mutual trust and understanding between the two groups.

He said it was also to guard against any breach of the peace.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Congressman Marino was poorly informed about the issues he commented on, wondering why he did not take the pains to get first hand information from the US Embassy in Nigeria or any other credible source before engaging in what is nothing but a ‘propaganda of his own imagination’. The Minister said by asking the US to refrain from selling warplanes and other military equipment to Nigeria based on a faulty premise, the Congressman has demonstrated a poor understanding of global security issues. ”Insecurity anywhere i
