Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has advised youths to imbibe peace, tolerance and reconciliation to curb ethnic, religious and social strife in the country.

Ugwuanyi gave the advice when he received the executive members of the Student Christian Movement of Nigeria (SCM), during a courtesy visit to him in Enugu on Tuesday.

“As a government, we will continue to demonstrate our commitment toward building a new foundation for our children through expansive youths development policies, programs and enactment of quality legislation.

“One such concrete commitment by my administration is the passage and signing into law of the Enugu State Child Rights Act”, he said.

He commended their decision to hold its 25thAnniversary in Enugu, describing the gesture as a great honour and prayed for God to grant them success.

The movement’s National President, Rev. Eric Ighalo, recalled that SCM was established by the former governor of Eastern Region, Sir Francis Akanu Ibiam.
