The Federal Government on Monday arraigned, Ewuzu Okechukwu, in an FCT High Court, Jabi, for culpable homicide.
Okechukwu, a resident of Gishiri Village, Nicon Junction, Abuja, was arraigned by the Ministry of Justice for killing Usman Sadiq, contrary to Section 222 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, who had earlier pleaded not guilty, committed the crime at Area 1, Garki, Abuja, sometimes in 2014.
The defendant had told the court that he was not involved in the death had been on remand since February 2015.
When he was asked by the court why he had not met his bail condition, the defendant said he had nobody in Abuja to take him on bail.
“My only sister that can take me on bail has left Abuja during the 2014 Apo demolition saga,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs. Ama-Yeboah Ohien, prayed the court to allow her file in her final written address.
Mrs Ikem-Mgbemema Chika did not oppose the application but also prayed the court to allow her file the defendant final written address.
Justice Danlami Senchi, however, adjourned the matter to Dec. 15 to allow the both counsel file their final written addresses.
