A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting in Rijiyar Zaki on Thursday remanded a 21-year-old man, Mansur Abdullahi, in prison for allegedly stabbing a man on his hand.
Senior Magistrate Aminu Fagge remanded the accused after he pleaded guilty, and adjourned the case till Dec. 5.
Abdullahi is standing trial on a two-count charge of causing hurt and being in possession of a dangerous weapon.
The prosecutor, Mr Yusuf Sale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 10 in Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano.
Sale said Gambo Rabiu of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters reported the case to Rijiyar Zaki Police Division, Kano, on Oct. 10.
He also said that the accused had a misunderstanding with Rabi and in the process attacked him with a long knife.
“The accused stabbed Rabiu on his left hand and some parts of his body. Rabiu sustained injuries on his hand and head as a result of the attack.
“The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano,” Sale said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 246 and 103 of the Penal Code.
