Electrician docked for stealing rechargeable fans

A 34-year-old electrician, Musa Ajimoh, was on Tuesday brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing two sets of rechargeable fans worth N30,000.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko told the court that the accused committed the crime at Noble Plaza on Joseph Dosu Way, Badagry.

The stolen item was owned by the complainant, Mrs. Bukola Alao.

“The accused just walked into the shop, picked up the rechargeable fans and walked out, like nothing was wrong,” he said.

The prosecutor noted that the offence committed was punishable under Section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Tijani Aliu, pleaded with the court to grant bail to the accused since the offence committed was a bailable one.

He assured the court that his client would always attend hearings and would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mr. Abiodun Etti, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was then adjourned till Sept. 9, for further hearing.

Pope not involved in Colombian peace deal- Vatican

Pope Francis Pope Francis has turned down a request to play a role in the peace deal between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebel group. The Vatican in a statement issued on Wednesday in in Vatican City said that an invitation was sent to his Holiness in early August to appoint a representative to participate in the committee that selected the judges for the talks. Man docked for defiling 9-year-old girl

magistrate-court A 33-year-old man, Godwin Otobo, was on Monday docked at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.For allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl, ‎Otobo, who lives at No. 10, Borrow Pit St., Sangotedo-Ajah area of Lagos, was said to have defiled the underage girl whose parents also reside in the same compound.
