All health workers’ unions must work as a team with the management of their respective hospitals to enhance effective service delivery to their patients and the public.

Dr Richard Adebayo, the acting Medical Director, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNSH), Yaba, gave the advice on Thursday .

Adebayo spoke on the sideline of the inauguration of Senior Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI) at FNSH,Yaba branch, organised by the association.

He advised the leaders and members of the union to remain united, adding that without unity, no good could be achieved in the health sector.

“I believe that the establishment of SSAUTHRIAI in our institution is aimed at reviving the health sector in there.

“The union leaders should intensify efforts in reaching out to people across the health institutions, saying there were a lot to tell their union members to discourage them from involving their members in crisis.

“If there is any disagreement between the unions and management, they should resolve it on time because strike is not the solution.

“Strike affects the growth and development of health institutions, especially our patients who will be affected,” Adebayo said.

He appealed to the health workers to continue to cooperate with both the Federal and state ministries of health for better outcome and development of the health sector in the country.

Also, Dr Benjamin Akintola, National President, SSAUTHRIAI, said that the idea of establishing the SSAUTHRIAI in FNSH was a laudable one.

Akintola said that it would move the hospital and the union members forward for the interest and benefit of the society.

“There should not be any communication gap between the management and the union leaders for the development of the institution.

“I want the management to put us under one umbrella so that there will be proper supervision and coordination for effective service delivery.

“Every union member should be recognised because union leaders provide intervention funds, zero tolerance, and good welfare programmes as well as organize local and international trainings for all the members.

Also speaking, the chairman of SSAUTHRIAI, FNSH chapter, Mr Oye John, promised strong collaboration between the union and the management in the institution.

“Our aim is to achieve successful goals and progress for the staff and our patients.

“We hope if there is any friction between the union and the management because we will surely agree and disagree, we should be able to resolve it amicably.

“This is because we are aiming to achieve the same goals for the development of all.

“I want all the union members to work very hard as a team and see strike as the last option to resolving all problems in the institution,” John said.

He appealed to the Federal Ministry of Health to equip institution’s staff with more working tools and fulfill all the agreements signed by it with the health workers.

Details of the Attack The Houthis, a Shiite militant group with ties to Iran, declared that they launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel. While the exact impact of these attacks remains unclear, reports suggest that Israel’s defense systems intercepted several threats over its airspace. This marks a significant escalation as the Houthis widen their involvement in the conflict beyond their typical operations within Yemen and neighboring Saudi Arabia. The Houthis’ Justification In their statement, the Houthis framed the attack as retaliation for Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which they characterized as indiscriminate bombings resultin...
