The Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Sanai Agunbiade says the bill against land grabbing recently passed into law by the Assembly will eradicate hardship usually experienced by residents of Ikorodu in the hands of land grabbers.

Agunbiade, representing Ikorodu I, at the Assembly spoke on Thursday at the Ikorodu Town Hall where he gave account of his steward in the last one year to his constituency.

Every prominent son and daughter of the division thronged the venue of the meeting to catch a glimpse of Agunbiade, who was supported by some members of the Lagos Assembly as well.

The lawmaker explained how he pursued assiduously, the bill to prosecute land grabbers in the area, an issue which he said had brought untold hardship on the people.

“It was a birthday gift to me when the bill was passed on Tuesday. We only await the governor to sign it into law,” Agunbiade said.

He added that he had successfully aided employment of some of the youths in the division, saying that about 250 youths were aided in empowerment programmes.

According to him, 80 Nigerian youths were exposed to trans-border trade as well as gainful employment for 30 youths in different sectors of the economy.

“I believe this feedback is an integral part of practical representation. To live and interact with the people on a daily basis and to be able to tell the people what went down at the hallow chambers,” he said.

He stated that the cultural heritage of Ikorodu division would be made known to the world soon with the statue of Asa being mounted at the popular Ikorodu roundabout.

At the event were Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu; Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, a former deputy governor of Lagos state; Princess Adeniran Ogunsanya, a former Secretary to the State Government in Lagos, among others.

Court grants Fani-Kayode N50m bail

Fani-kayode sandwiched by EFCC officials Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday granted a N50m bail to former spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. Fani-Kayode was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a five-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N26m.
