3 in court for stealing tricycle

Three men- Nura Ibrahim, 30, Anas Adamu, 21, and Yahaya Yusuf, 40, were on Monday arraigned in a Kano Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle.

The defendants are standing trial on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.

The prosecutor, Insp. Yakutia Galadima, told the court that, one Ibrahim Isa of Kawo Quarters, Kano, reported the matter at Nasarawa Police Division, Kano, on June 3.

Galadima told the court that, Ibrahim, of Kura Local government Area and one Adamu, from the Brigade Quarters, both in Kano, conspired with one Ya’u, now at large to commit the offences.

He said that the accused jointly deceived the complainant to carry his lemon juice at Bello Road, Kano, with the complainant’s tricycle.

The prosecutor said that in the process the three suspects snatched the unregistered tricycle valued at N500,000.

The prosecutor said that Yusuf of Gaida Quarters, Kano, dishonestly received the said stolen tricycle.

Galadima said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 287, and 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, denied committing the offences.

The Magistrate, Hajiya Fatima Muhammad, granted the second and third defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties each in like sum.

She ordered that Ibrahim be remanded in prison custody, and adjourned the case till July 14, for further mention.
