The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has announced July 30 as new date for the local government
election in the state.
ADSIEC had initially fixed June 25 for the election.
The Commission’s Information Officer, Malam Danladi Mahmood, told newsmen in Yola that the decision was taken unanimously after a stakeholders meeting between the Commission and the nine political parties involved in the election.
Mahmood said the development was due to non-production of ballot papers by the contractor handling the job.
He also listed the factional crisis rocking the state’s PDP which submitted two separate lists of candidates as another challenge.
He added that “political parties are yet to return nomination forms, while we still have the problem of faction in the state PDP.”
