Religious bodies, political and family allies stormed Lagos on 1 April for the 10th annual remembrance service and lecture of Late Khaleepha Issa Sulaimon.

Late Khaleepha Issa Sulaimon was the deputy to Late Sheik Abdul Yekeem Mustapha of Al Isobatul Qadirriyat al islamiya of Nigeria.

To celebrate the lecture, dignitaries from all over the country graced the event held at No 2 Yaya Abatan by Excellence Hotel, Ogba in Lagos to extol the virtues of the late Sulaimon.

“Transparency in things he does and the parameter set out in this aspect were the guiding principles of Khaleepha in everything he does, both in religion or otherwise. The Al Isobatul Qadirriyat al islamiya of Nigeria as a body will continue to remember him,” a statement by his family read.

“We are proud of the contributions he made during his time, which are still relevant today as well as for future generations.

“Although, he is not here with us in the physical form, Khaleepha still remains dear to us, as all that he lived for is still meaningful to us,”

The statement described the late Khaleepha as an iconic figure whose annual remembrance should not be seen as ritual, but a way of appreciating God for a life well spent.

Fire: UniJos Senate convenes emergency meeting on Monday

Fire at the University of Jos Library University of Jos is to convene an emergency senate meeting on Monday to review the level of damage done to the institution by the Saturday night inferno. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sebastian Maimako, disclosed this on Sunday after inspecting areas affected by the incident.
