Amosun seeks prayers for Nigerian leaders

Gov.-Ibikunle-Amosun Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun on Friday called on religious groups to intensify their prayers for the country’s leaders so as to guide them aright.

Amosun made the call at the official opening of the First Session of the Fourth Synod of the Diocese of Anglican Communion, Lagos Mainland, with the theme: ”Thou Hands, Oh God, Has Guided”.

“We should love one another; we should run away from anything that will push us to violence, Nigeria is one country that should remain.

“So, we that are in government should do what is expected of us to make sure that Nigerians get the best out of this government and governance as a whole.

“We need a lot of prayers and they should continue to pray for us.’’

In his remarks, Most Rev. Adebola Ademowo, Bishop Emeritus, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, urged Nigerians to pray ceaselessly for the country so that things would be better for its citizens.

“At this time, we need a lot of prayers, people argue here and there, this is not the time for that, it’s for us to pray more that Nigeria will be out of the woods, because there is a kind of inflation now, prices are going up.

“Lets pray more and we know that President (Muhammadu)Buhari will be able to help us, I believe that the man is God sent and he is going to bail us out of our present predicament.

“Beyond the (dark) tunnel there is light, there is a better tomorrow in the live of our nation.’’

Also contributing, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins, urged Nigerians to be committed to the work of God.

“The Archbishop has given a very deep message today, calling everybody to a righteous living, calling everybody to commitment to the work of God and commitment to whatever it is that God calls us to.

“I think that kind of a message is so very much needed at our time both in the life of the church as well as in the life of the nation.

“And so, I can imagine that this will continue to resound throughout the course of the synod.

“And we expect that will also help to begin to change the whole situation in our country for better than it is right now.’’

The Synod, which started on Wednesday, will end on May 30.

Court grants Fani-Kayode N50m bail

Fani-kayode sandwiched by EFCC officials Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday granted a N50m bail to former spokesman of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
