President Muhammadu Buhari and Abba Kyari The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari, is ill. A top government official confirmed this to Daily Trust correspondent Friday night. The official, who spoke under strict condition of anonymity, said that Kyari was flown to the United Kingdom (UK) on Thursday. He, however, added that the chief of staff “is now stable” as he was responding to treatment. The official declined comment on the nature of Kyari’s ailment. According to the official, Kyari has since Friday been speaking to people in Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday approved the appointment of Justices Sidi Bage and Paul Galinje, as Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC). Mr Soji Oye, the council’s Acting Director of Information, made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Oye said the two Justices would be sworn-in by Justice Walter Onnoghen, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) on December 5. Bage and Galinje are from Nasarawa and Taraba state respectively.

File Photo: Petrol tanker fire where many were burnt to death Fourteen persons in Tegina town in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state, on Friday, lost their lives as a result of a fire caused by a petrol tanker. It was gathered that the tanker was conveying petrol from Lagos to Kaduna when the driver lost control and rammed his vehicle into some residential buildings in the town. Eight houses were completely burnt in the fire that ensued. The fire claimed the lives of the people who were trapped in the buildings and others selling by the roadside. An eye witness said that the eight houses were completely burnt while properties valued at millions of naira including vehicles were destroyed in the inferno. The eye witness, who requested anonymity, said that five persons who sustained injury were currently receiving treatment at Tegina General Hospital.
