Mr Francis Odesanya, Rivers State Commissioner of Police Policemen at Rumuepirikom Division of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested three fake currency suspects. The culprits, Andrew Ogah, Ozoemena Okeke and Helen Ozoemena Okeke (f) were arrested with fake N500 and N1000 notes at a new generation bank. Investigation is ongoing at the Division. Confirming the arrest, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Omoni Nnamdi said, “the Commissioner of Police, Francis M. Odesanya, advises the public to be careful with the antics of these criminals whose stock in trade is to defraud unsuspecting customers and clients. Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria has embarked on a three-day warning strike since Monday to protest hike in the prices of baking materials and production. The association warned that members might be forced to increase the price of bread to remain in business. In a statement signed by the chairman of the association, Mrs Preye Johnson and Secretary Hilary Peter, they said the prices of bread and flour cake popularly known as Madiga would be increase from October 20. The association said the adjustment in prices was as a result of the sudden increase in the prices of sugar from N7,000 to N20,000; butter from N4,200 to N12,000; yeast from N10,500 to N17,000; preservatives from N12,000 to N45,000 and flour from N9,000 to N12,000. Ken-wiwa jnr Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has expressed shock at the untimely death of the Late Keenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa, son of the late Keenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa, Ogoni environmental right activist. In a statement issued on Tuesday by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to Governor Wike on Electronic Media, he expressed shock over the death of Mr Saro-Wiwa (jnr) . He described the death of Saro-Wiwa (jnr) as a major loss to Rivers State, Nigeria and humanity. The statement added that the Late Saro-Wiwa (jnr) devoted his life to humanity, pointing out that his transition to glory has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. While condoling with his immediate family over the untimely death, Governor Wike prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
