Some Nigerian judges The Department of State Service (DSS) has so far arrested seven judges across the nation in an operation which began on Friday which the Presidency claimed was launched to rid the nation of corrupt judges. The Department also revealed that eight more judges are to be arrested in the next few days. Premium Times quotes an official of DSS as confirming that operatives still have at least eight more arrests to make, one of which is a Supreme Court judge. The eight are said to be part of 15 judges that are under investigation by the SSS for alleged corrupt practices. Seven of the 15 were arrested this weekend and the remaining eight will soon be picked up. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State Kaduna State Government has ordered the arrest and subsequent prosecution of one Ibrahim Musa,who has owned up to being the spokesperson of an unlawful society, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). This is contained in a statement signed by Special Assistant to the state Governor on Media and publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan Aruwan said an order declaring the IMN as an unlawful society in Kaduna State took effect from Oct.7, 2016. “Violation of this order attracts penalty of imprisonment for seven years or a fine or both, according to sections 97a and 97b of the Penal Code,” he said. Col Hameed Ali The anti-smuggling unit of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Command has intercepted three bullet proof vehicles smuggled into the country at different entry locations. The three arrested bullet proof vehicles with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N58.79 million are: a black Jeep Escalade; a black Toyota Land Cruiser (VKR), both with Lagos registration numbers; and a black Mercedes Benz Bus with a foreign number.
