AFGHANISTAN-PROTESTS/ At least 80 people have been killed and 230 wounded in a double suicide attack at a demonstration in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, according to officials from the public health ministry. The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group claimed responsibility for the blasts, which targeted members of the country’s Hazara minority. Mohammad Ismail Kawousi, a spokesman for the ministry of public health, said the dead and wounded had been taken to nearby hospitals. The IS-linked Amaq news agency said two fighters “detonated explosive belts at a gathering of Shia” in Kabul. The attack in Deh Mazang square targeted thousands from the Shia Hazara minority who were protesting over a new power line, saying its route bypasses provinces where many of them live. Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed agent banks to approved international money transfer operators to sell foreign currency accruing from inward money remittances to licenced Bureau De Change operators (BDCs). The directive is in a circular with reference number, “TED/FEM/ FPC/GEN/01/004, dated July 22, 2016 and posted on its Website’’. The circular by the Acting Director, Trade and Exchange Department, Mr W.D. Gotring, is part of efforts to ensure the stability of the Naira exchange rate. It also said that the decision was to encourage all critical stakeholders to participate in the foreign exchange market. The circular said that all international money transfer operators would be required to remit foreign currency to agent banks for disbursement in Naira to beneficiaries. This is the second fire incident in the last four months with the first destroying hundreds of shops and property worth billions of Naira. Eyewitness said the fire, which affected shops belonging to meat, fish and vegetables sellers, started around 5 a.m. Men of the State Fire Service, were however, able to control the inferno before it spread to other parts of the market. When contacted, the State Director of Fire Service, Mustapha Rilwan, said the fire, which started around 5 a.m, destroyed many stalls. “The affected shops were made up of shift but our people were able to put off the fire in time. “The fire was said to have been caused by some people believed to have been cooking in the market.

Mr. Lawal Daura, DSS DG The Department of State Services ( DSS) has arrested one Jones Abari, aka Gen. Akotebe Darikoro, for the alleged mastermind of a hoaxed plan to overthrow President Muhammad Buhari by the military. A statement issued by an official of the service, Mr Tony Opuiyo in Abuja on Saturday said Abari was arrested in Yenagoa on July 21. Opuiyo described the suspect as the leader of the Joint Revolutionary Council of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF). He said that Abari had confessed to other criminal activities which included a threat to launch missile attacks on selected targets in Abuja and Aso Rock. Others include writing threat messages to the management of the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) demanding for N500 million and N250 million respectively.
